listening: My stomach turns to knots before leading a climb; I nearly made myself sick on Sunday. Dave thinks plugging in earbuds & zoning into music will help calm my nerves, so he uploaded songs to my iPhone (my iPod was stolen). I'd love more music suggestions. Here are my Pandora stations & likes; if you have similar recommendations, give 'em up!
seeing: succulents & cacti. Our place is even brighter & fresher with live plants hanging around. Bodhi's incessant nibbling - & lack of light - deterred us in the past, so I hoped he'd stay away from these pretties. The middle one is alluring I guess. I think we've
outmaneuvered him though.
painting: clay pots for the plants. It's almost embarrasing how simple they are, but I love them. 11 weeks 11 ways is losing steam for sure. I have little projects in mind for the house, rather than just wanting to play with mediums. I don't want to let go of this challenge completely, but it may have to evolve. I've learned a lot already: I like to paint objects. Painting those ridiculously simple pots = one of my best mornings ever. I want to paint coasters. I want to paint our walls. I can't wait to play with gouache.
feeling: crisp mornings & evenings. The sun still beats down in the day, but I love the desert's drastic temperature changes from day to morning/night.
tasting: locally-harvested lobster mushrooms...& lots of other delicious, fresh foods. I had a couple "cheat" meals or indulgences last week (like a vegan pastry); but I'm finally craving fruits & vegetables, & feeling
yoga-ing: yearning for a daily practice again, even though I am getting to the studio multiple times a week. Restorative yoga before bed sounds like a great idea, especially when I can't fit it in during the day. Does anyone else like restorative/yin yoga? Will you link to a good sequence or practice for me?
climbing: I tried to lead a 12.a for the first time. It suits my style but shut me down yesterday. My forearms pumped out on the crimps before the last bolt. One bolt to the top! It's sort of driving me crazy I didn't send it.......BUT.......it's also sort of amazing I got that far.
